As the new owner and director of Little Acorn Academy, I wanted to introduce myself and my vision for continuing the legacy of Grace Learning Academy and instilling the love of learning in our youngest community members. My name is Renee Koschnick, some of you know me as Colton or Sylvie’s mom. Before becoming a mama, I taught for 12 years, predominantly in Kindergarten. My Bachelor of Arts is in Early Childhood Education and my Master of Science degree is in Curriculum and Instruction. Teaching and working with young children has always been my passion and bringing learning to life brings me so much joy. I am delighted to take on this new opportunity.
We moved to Oakwood in 2015 and I was immediately embraced by the warm and welcoming Oakwood community who quickly introduced me to Grace Learning Academy. I was fortunate enough to enroll my son in the K-Prep program and instantly felt a connection. Since then, Grace has always held a special place in my heart and I didn’t think twice about enrolling my daughter when it was time.
My youngest is getting ready to start Kindergarten in the fall, and I’ve been considering ways to fully utilize my talents and passions. The timing of the sale of Grace Learning Academy couldn’t have been more ideal and I immediately knew this was my next step. Being able to expand my professional experience and grow and learn with this community excites me!
It is an honor to be tasked with the important role of building a strong foundation for the love of learning, the importance of play and building friendships, and compassion for others. While the name is changing to Little Acorn Academy, the community and foundation for learning you are accustomed to experiencing will remain. It’s important to me that children:
· are given the opportunity for curiosity through discovery.
· learn through play in the areas of language through literature, math and science, safety and wellness and the creative arts.
· experience a warm and loving environment, in which they can master key essential social skills and learn everlasting moral values.
There is a great staff in place to carry out this vision and I plan to be actively involved in the day-to-day operation of the preschool.
With love and learning,
