My name is Renee Koschnick and I am the founder and director of Little Acorn Academy. We moved here in 2015 and was immediately embraced by the warm and welcoming Oakwood community. I look forward to growing a special place of learning here. My Bachelor of Arts is in Early Childhood Education and my Master’s is in Curriculum and Instruction. I look forward to creating curriculum that will bring learning to life for my little acorns.
My husband Clay and I met in 2003, married in 2006, and enjoyed moving and traveling all over before starting our family in 2010 with our son Colton, followed by our daughter Sylvie in 2013. As a family, we love being active and out exploring nature! When indoors, we enjoy baking, reading and playing board games!

Stephanie was an amazing surprise that came into my life and the preschool! While interviewing her for an assistant position, I quickly learned of her wonderful teaching experience and just immediately adored her and needed to have her be a part of the Little Acorn family. So thankful she decided to take on more than she interviewed for! She has a Bachelor’s in Biology and her Master’s in Education. Her sweet spirit will be a perfect addition!
Stephanie lives in Oakwood where she has for over 20 years with her husband Todd and children Maggie, Caroline, Benjamin, and Erin. When she isn’t spending time with her family (her favorite activity), she likes to paint and garden
I feel incredibly lucky to have Kiersten back working with preschoolers! When she reached out to me about teaching at Little Acorn, I did not hesitate for a second! Her wonderful energy and the incredible knowledge she brings, makes her a true asset to the program! She received her Bachelor’s in Psychology from Santa Clara University. Having her Master’s in Education and her teaching credential with a Science emphasis makes her perfect for teaching the S.T.E.A.M. class this year.

Once you meet Rebecca, you will understand why I am thankful she is a preschool teacher at Little Acorn. After every interaction with her, I always think what a kind person she is. She makes everyone around her comfortable and has such patience and love for teaching. She has her Bachelor’s and Master’s from University of Florida in Elementary Education with an emphasis on Literacy. She brings such knowledge and creativity to her classroom!

Music and Movement
I first met Olivia as a preschool mom. Over time, I learned about her musical talents. When this preschool adventure started, I knew I wanted to add a music component to it and Olivia quickly came to mind. I don’t know what I am more excited about: her accepting the position or the school song she has created. I can’t wait to hear the “little acorns” singing it! We will all benefit from her more than 20 years experience with piano, guitar, and voice.
Olivia lives in the Dayton area with her husband Jeff and her sons Levi and Abram. She loves music and enjoys sharing it with her boys. When they aren’t being musical, they are traveling, camping, exploring new places, and taking rides in their ’76 VW bus!
Penny was a sweet face that I enjoyed seeing at preschool drop off where she would come as a nanny. When I knew I needed a new Acorns Lead, I didn’t want to rush to hire someone. Most things with this preschool have happened organically and have been wonderful, so I wanted to wait for the right person to come along. When I received Penny’s resume, it proved once again…patience brings about amazing things. She has her Bachelor’s of Science in Human Development and Family Studies from Kent State and has been a teacher and nanny for many years!
Penny is married to Scott and they live in Kettering with their daughter Cece and one on the way. She likes live music and spending time with family.
Chrys was my daughter’s preschool teacher and I immediately appreciated the kindness and love she shared with her. Her warm smile makes everyone feel welcome! She received her Bachelor’s in Biology from University of Iowa and has taught preschool for many years, as well as participated in many trainings. I know from personal experience, there are some lucky learners out there to benefit from her knowledge and care.
Chrys is married to Ryan and they have 5 children, Taylor, McKenna, Logan, Riley, and Jack. She enjoys running, walking their adopted lab mix Charlie, family bike rides, watching her children's sporting events, reading, and playing co-ed volleyball.

I first met Anja through our boys being in the same class when they moved here from Belgium. Then I got to know her better at the Kindergarten bus stop with our daughters. I have always enjoyed my interactions with her and was excited when she was interested in joining the Little Acorn family. She studied at the International School in Switzerland and speaks 5 languages!
Anja was born and raised in Denmark. She and her husband, Morten live in Oakwood with their 2 children, Helena and Benjamin. She loves gardening and being outside, helping others, working out, and guiding children.
Amy is someone I met when our oldest children were in class together. She always interacts with little ones in such a kind way. When I decided to change up our Chapel special to make it more character education based, I thought of Amy immediately. I bought a “Fruit of The Spirit” curriculum and offered her the job which she accepted…yay! I think both are going to be great additions at Little Acorn. Amy is an Air Force Academy graduate and has her Master’s of Liberal Arts in Biology. When she isn’t teaching her own little ones, she teaches at her church on Sundays.
Amy lives in Oakwood with her husband Randy and their 4 kids: Victoria, Nathan, R.J., and Elizabeth. They also have a sweet little rescue cat from Pakistan, Lincoln. She loves reading, playing games with her kids, singing, and learning new things.

She received her Bachelor's of Science in Psychology from the University of Arizona. She has taught English as a Second Language to Preschool-7th grade while living in Tokyo, Japan. She also volunteered as an art teacher for grades Kindergarten-3rd.
She recently moved to Oakwood with her husband Ryan and 3 children: Smith, Carson, and Payton. They have a dog named Cali. Abbie grew up in Atlanta, so be sure to listen for her "y'all."

This was the last position I had to hire and I wanted to be patient and picky to find someone to complete our Little Acorn family. I wanted to find someone whom would be wonderful with the kids, great with the staff and kind with the parents. After many interviews, I was lucky to connect with Jess. The only downside was that she wasn’t arriving to the area until 5 weeks into the school year. Well, she was WELL worth the wait! She graduated from Evangel University with an Elementary Education Major and an Art Minor.
She just arrived from Florida with her Air Force husband, Stephen. They have 2 dogs, Ron and Duke. Jess loves the arts, both visual and performing. She has taught ballet to ages 3 to 8. She loves to be outdoors hiking and exploring and traveling!
Phyllis Niemeyer Miller
Mighty Oaks P.M. Assistant
Phyllis was recommended by a sweet little preschool family. During her interview, I could immediately sense her helpful and calm nature. It was also clear what a talented artist she was and so excited to work with young children again on a regular basis. It was easy to offer her a job! She graduated from Miami University with a Bachelor’s in Fine Arts. She continued her education by receiving her Teaching Certificate in Art working with Kindergarten-12th grade. I first heard about Catherine through a Little Acorn teacher. She spoke so highly of her and I adored the teacher, so I knew it would be a wonderful match. When Catherine reached out about the job and we had the interview to make it official, I was overjoyed to welcome her into the Little Acorn family! She received her Bachelor’s in Early Childhood Education from George Mason University and truly enjoys working with young children and learning from them.
Catherine recently moved to the Dayton area with her husband Jack and is excited about the purchase of their first home! She is a fanatic coffee drinker and avid reader of Jane Austen novels. She has dreams of writing a book as beautiful and inspiring as Pride and Prejudice .

Hannah first entered the preschool as a babysitter picking some little ones up from class. A preschool family informed her that I was hiring and she immediately reached out. At the interview, we are all impressed with her well thought out answers and her wonderful understanding of the needs of little ones. She has experience working with preschoolers at different levels and loves to get creative, so she is a perfect fit!
Hannah has moved around quite a bit growing up, but has settled down in Kettering. She and her longterm partner, Michael are both continuing their education. She adores spending time with family and taking road trips. Some of her other hobbies are photography, writing, and painting.
