My name is Renee Koschnick and I am the founder and director of Little Acorn Academy. We moved here in 2015 and was immediately embraced by the warm and welcoming Oakwood community. I look forward to growing a special place of learning here. My Bachelor of Arts is in Early Childhood Education and my Master of Science degree is in Curriculum and Instruction. I look forward to creating curriculum that will bring learning to life for my little acorns.
My husband Clay and I met in 2003, married in 2006, and enjoyed moving and traveling all over before starting our family in 2010. Colton is 8 and is in the second grade. My daughter Sylvie is 5 and is enjoying Kindergarten. As a family, we love being active and out exploring nature! When indoors, we enjoy baking, reading and playing board games!
Emry Quinn, Acorns Assistant
"Isn't Mrs. Quinn just the best?" Do you know how many times I have heard that? Too many to count and it makes me so thankful to know her! I am so lucky this wonderful and talented lady is a part of the Little Acorn family! She comes with years of experience and helps every lead teacher more than she is required to. You will see her talent in every Tiny Seed, Sprout, Acorn, and Mighty Oak tree she has painted throughout the school!
When she can take herself away from school, she is a mom to 3 grown children and a grandmother too! She enjoys time with her furry companion Ollie! A lover of art, she is a published illustrator and enjoys decorating new spaces!
Tracey Reinoehl, Gross Motor
I first met Tracey when our older kids were in preschool together and continued to get to know her when our younger girls became friends. Tracey has her Bachelor's of Science in Biology and her Master's in Physical Therapy. She currently works as a school-based PT for Montgomery County. I knew when buying the preschool, I wanted to incorporate a gross motor class and had no question that I wanted Tracey to be the teacher. I am just thankful she said "yes!" Her knowledge and calm demeanor will be an asset to Little Acorn Academy.
Tracey lives in Oakwood with her husband Jason and her girls, Evelyn (7) and Josie (5). She enjoys being active outdoors with her family, reading and experimenting with healthy recipes.
Kiersten Cahill, S.T.E.A.M.
I feel incredibly lucky to have Kiersten back working with preschoolers! When she reached out to me about teaching at Little Acorn, I did not hesitate for a second! Her wonderful energy and the incredible knowledge she brings, makes her a true asset to the program! She received her Bachelor’s in Psychology from Santa Clara University. Having her Master’s in Education and her teaching credential with a Science emphasis makes her perfect for teaching the S.T.E.A.M. class this year.
Kiersten lives in Oakwood, with her husband Sean and their 5 kids. Brandon (15), Riley (13) and triplets Logan, Tyler, and Delaney (10). She enjoys running, gardening, traveling, and watching her kids at their various sporting events.
Rebecca Lisiewski, Acorns Lead
Once you meet Rebecca, you will understand why I am thankful she is a preschool teacher at Little Acorn. After every interaction with her, I always think what a kind person she is. She makes everyone around her comfortable and has such patience and love for teaching. She has her Bachelor’s and Master’s from University of Florida in Elementary Education with an emphasis on Literacy. She brings such knowledge and creativity to her classroom!
Rebecca and her husband Matt reside in Oakwood with their two boys, Gavin (7) and Dylan (4). Much of their free time is spent exploring new parks, traveling to family, walking their dog Abby, playing basketball, or cheering for the UD Flyers or UF Gators!
Olivia Tew, Music
I first met Olivia as a preschool mom. Over time, I learned about her musical talents. When this preschool adventure started, I knew I wanted to add a music component to it and Olivia quickly came to mind. I don’t know what I am more excited about: her accepting the position or the school song she has created. I can’t wait to hear the “little acorns” singing it! We will all benefit from her more than 20 years experience with piano, guitar, and voice.
Olivia lives in the Dayton area with her husband Jeff and her sons Levi (7) and Abram (5). She loves music and enjoys sharing it with her boys. When they aren’t being musical, they are traveling, camping, exploring new places, and taking rides in their ’76 VW bus!
Tiny Seeds and 2 day Sprouts Lead
Sarah was someone I always heard wonderful things about and when I finally met her, I immediately found that she was everything I heard and more. I know she will bring so much to Little Acorn with her math and science background, as well as her creativity and calm demeanor. She is a Miami University and University of Dayton graduate with a Bachelor’s in Psychology and a Master’s in Education.
Sarah and her husband Bryan have found Oakwood to be the perfect place to plant their roots with their two sons Jake (7) and Noah (5), and their small Yorkie named Bella. They are an outdoor family that love to create art, play music, go on nature walks, ride bikes, kayak, and go fishing.
Chrys Morrissey, Mighty Oaks A.M. Assistant and P.M. Lead
I first met Chrys when she was my daughter’s preschool teacher and immediately appreciated the kindness and love she shared with her. Her warm smile makes everyone feel welcome! She received her Bachelor’s in Biology from University of Iowa and has taught preschool for many years, as well as participated in many trainings. I know from personal experience, there are some lucky learners out there to benefit from her knowledge and care.
Chrys is married to Ryan and they have 5 children, Taylor (22), McKenna (18), Logan (15), Riley (10), and Jack (8). She enjoys running, walking their adopted lab mix Charlie, family bike rides, watching her children's sporting events, reading, and playing co-ed volleyball.
Mighty Oaks A.M. Lead
Jenny reached out when Little Acorn was first announced and excited me with her resume and experience. When I got to meet her and show her my vision; we immediately connected and I felt it important to have her be a part of this journey. Even though she has taught the early years all over the world, she grew up in Oakwood and received her Bachelor’s in Elementary Education at University of Dayton.
Thankful that Jenny finally moved back to Oakwood after 20 years abroad. She is married to an Oakwood graduate, Federico and have a daughter Isabella (13) and 2 crazy dogs Kaya, a sweet black lab and Mateo, a bossy French Bulldog. She enjoys walking, spinning, and playing tennis or golf.
3 day Sprouts Assistant
I first got introduced to Gretchen through a mutual friend. We spoke on the phone before she moved into the area. From our very first conversation, I could tell what a kind and outgoing person she was. When I finally got to meet her, my thoughts were proven to be true. When a spot opened up at the preschool, I reached out to Gretchen immediately and am so fortunate she took the position. She adds so much with her patience, smile, and positivity. She received her Bachelor’s of Arts in Elementary Education from University of Guam. She has also taught preschool Sunday School working with 3-4 year olds.
Gretchen is married to Sean and they have a 5 year old daughter, Charlotte. Gretchen loves to read, study history, art, organizing and playing tennis.
Abbie Finlayson, Tiny Seeds and 2 day Sprouts Assistant
When Abbie reached out about the job posting, I immediately felt comfortable with her. She was very upbeat and easy to talk with! She had just moved here and already had her kids enrolled in summer activities and almost done packing...I remember thinking, "that is one organized mama!" She received her Bachelor's of Science in Psychology from the University of Arizona. She has taught English as a Second Language to Preschool-7th grade while living in Tokyo, Japan. She also volunteered as an art teacher for grades Kindergarten-3rd.
She recently moved to Oakwood with her husband Ryan and 3 children, Smith (10), Carson (8), and Payton (5). They have a dog named Cali. Abbie grew up in Atlanta, so be sure to listen for her "y'all."
Jess Kosch, 3 day Sprouts Lead
This was the last position I had to hire and I wanted to be patient and picky to find someone to complete our Little Acorn family. I wanted to find someone whom would be wonderful with the kids, great with the staff and kind with the parents. After many interviews, I was lucky to connect with Jess. The only downside was that she wasn’t arriving to the area until 5 weeks into the school year. Well, she was WELL worth the wait! She graduated from Evangel University with an Elementary Education Major and an Art Minor.
She just arrived from Florida with her Air Force husband, Stephen. They have 2 dogs, Ron and Duke. Jess loves the arts, both visual and performing. She has taught ballet to ages 3 to 8. She loves to be outdoors hiking and exploring and traveling!
